About Me

Hello internet users, as you are now reading this 'about me' page, you have obviously visited my blog, which I thank you for.
So my name is Iona, I am 17 and a baking enthusiast. I started The Island Bakery as a project for myself and to share my recipes and ideas with anyone who wants to listen.

I'm often seen with a camera in my hand, snapping away at anything and everything because I love finding old photos of events that I would otherwise have forgotten about. I love biscuits, I think the chocolate digestive is probably one of the best things ever made and I am proud to say that I once ate an entire packet in one sitting.

I love travelling, and due to my dad being in the army for many years, I have been fortunate enough to live in six different places including Cyprus, Germany and Ireland. However I do love England and was more than happy when we finally settled here.
I love entering baking competitions, some of which I have been lucky enough to win and during my proudest win at London's Cake and Bake show, I met the amazing John Whaite (Great British Bake Off winner 2012) and was judged by Mitch Turner and Peter Sidewell, which was a very exciting/nerve wracking experience!

I like to think of myself as a happy, cheerful person and love making friends so I would be more than happy to read any comments or suggestions that you have! Happy baking, and I hope you enjoy my blog : )
